Reading 'Inferno' was mandatory as an inspiration to the design (project's name, concept, form, and other issues)

Project One: Sketch design of a Museum

 

Context: The new west zone of El Mina district (Tripoli, Lebanon) _Duration: 4 weeks

 

Aim of the project: This project emphasises on the ability to handle a sketch design project that is based on extracting philosophical idea that leads to a conceptual design in a short time.

It is required to read a novel: ‘Inferno’ by Dan Brown and interpret a thread that can be used as a design concept and aspiration to your museum project.

 

The requested outcome should comprise the following but not limited to them:

- Philosophical idea: explained in both: written paragraph/s and diagrams

- Conceptual design  

- 3D detailed perspective/s that elaborate your 3D volume design

- Detailed Section

- Layout Your design volume should not exceed 100,000 m3.

 

Creativity is the main engine of that project, in addition to the presentation techniques that you will use to illustrate your design idea

Project Two: Culture Centre and facilities

 

Context: The Old east zone of El Mina district (inside the old fabric or at its edge)

 

Duration: 11 weeks

 

Tentative content: The culture centre should comprise the following:

                 a. Theatre for 250 person

                 b. Central Library

                 c. Temporary exhibition

                 d. Administrative section

                 e. Outdoor facilities

                 f. Other suggested indoor facilities

 

Intended learning outcomes

    - Site selection and analysis (GIS, Urban design)

    - Design the detailed program of the project (Research and programming)

    - Contextual analysis (Urban design)

    - Environmental analysis (for the current situation and the impact of your project)
