Public Seminar ____ Beirut, Lebanon

Urban Based Simulation in the Digital Era
A Spatial Configuration Approach

Lecture’s subject: The lecture is about the spatial configuration theories that can measure and forecast spatial sustainability of cities. The space syntax theory is one of the theories that attempts to understand why, from a spatial point of view, the built environment takes its shape in relation to corresponding socio-cultural activities. There is a fundamental link between the structures and functions of cities, as the configuration of the network is the primary shaper of the pattern of movement. Quantitative methods describe (simulate) patterns of spatial layouts showing the effect of urban grid configuration on existing movements, land use distribution and urban morphology in general.

Target audience: architects, urban designers, urban planner and social behaviour analyst. Undergraduate (last year students), Postgraduate (MSc, March and PhD students)
